Sprite picker: FLUX 1.1 Pro, FLUX Schnell, SDXL, or Ideogram v3

Sprite picker: FLUX 1.1 Pro, FLUX Schnell, SDXL, or Ideogram v3

The AI Sprite tool now lets you pick your image model per generation. Each option has its own credit cost, its own strengths, and its own aesthetic. Ideogram v3 is best at text-in-image, FLUX Schnell finishes in about two seconds, FLUX 1.1 Pro is our new default for quality.

One-size-fits-all is a lie in image generation. A quick concept sketch does not need the same model as a hero character portrait, and a UI mockup with legible text needs a specialist neither FLUX nor SDXL is.

So we built the picker. Four models, per-model credit costs that reflect their provider cost, and a plain-English tooltip on each so you know when to reach for it. Same tool, same prompt entry, same isolation-suffix trick so the sprite always renders on a plain backdrop suitable for a game.

Which model when

  • FLUX 1.1 Pro (default, 15 credits): best all-purpose quality; sharp characters, faithful anatomy
  • Ideogram v3 (20 credits, Indie plan or higher): the only model in the picker that reliably renders legible text; use for signs, UI mockups, splash art
  • FLUX Schnell (5 credits): four-step FLUX, roughly two seconds wall time; perfect for iterating on a concept
  • SDXL (10 credits): the older painterly aesthetic if that is what your game calls for; supports negative prompts

MCP agents can pass the model parameter to generate_sprite too, and the ledger reason records which model produced which generation so you can spot patterns in your admin cost dashboard.
