How credits work over MCP (packs, refills, top-ups)
MCP generation tools share your monthly credit balance and honour one-off credit packs.
A GameFoundry credit balance has two buckets. The monthly bucket refills with your subscription (Free: 100/mo, Indie: 5,000/mo, Studio: 20,000/mo, Pro: 75,000/mo) and resets when the billing period rolls over. The pack bucket comes from one-off top-ups (Starter 1,000/$2.99, Standard 5,000/$11.99, Bulk 20,000/$39.99) and never expires.
Every credit-costed MCP tool debits your monthly balance first, then falls back to your pack balance when monthly is exhausted. The split is transparent - a single spend can be part-monthly, part-pack, and both entries land in the same ledger. Refunds on provider failure return credits to their bucket of origin.
When you run out mid-generation, the tool returns a structured insufficient_credits error listing your current balance, the required amount, all three pack SKUs and a one-click top-up URL at /dashboard/credits. Agents can either surface that to you as plain English or parse the fields to be smart about it.
Free-tier accounts get monthly refills automatically on the first read of their balance after the period rolls, so nothing is needed on your end - the credits just appear.
Tip
Buy a Bulk pack ($39.99 for 20,000 credits) if you plan to let an agent loose for a weekend jam - it's the cheapest per-credit option and never expires, so leftovers roll into the next project.
